Job at Retreat Center in Alaska

Wants to Help A Needy Family

a group of us in south florida - ft. lauderdale area would like to start an adopt a family here - giving a family moral support, sending supplies, gifts, birthday/anniversary gifts, Christmas 0r Holiday gifts, shoes, towels, etc. i do charity in third world countries and am very aware that most things do not get

Katrina Family In Need

My Aunt Noreen and her daughter Jacqueline desperately want to go home to N.O. However their home is under six feet of water. Aunt Noreen is originally from Montpelier, Louisiana and so would  like to find housing somewhere in the St. Helena Parish area until she can return to her home in N.O. - She is looking for 2 bedroom house, apt., etc. in the Montpelier, Greensburg, Amite, Hammond vicinities.  If you have any information about housing in these areas please contact:

***Update: 11/1/05 RESOLVED!!! They found a house in Metairie and are very pleased to be back in their beloved New Orleans. However, the first day they moved in, Aunt Noreen opened a closet door to inspect it, and a huge slab of marble that was stored there fell down and hit her foot breaking it in two places. Still, she's home!

Church Collecting Items for Survivors

Our church just finished a collection for Hurricane Katrina victims that we had shipped to

Mississippi

.  My current intuition tells me that the best thing to do now is collect specific goods that are needed and get them to the people most in need.  If there is anything that you need in particular that we could collect for you, for example: blankets, diapers, food, then let me know and I will see what we can come up with.

Paxworks Aids Recovery

Llabyrinth builder John Ridder of Paxworks has put some labyrinth items up at ebay - 100% of the proceeds will go to various organizations providing Katrina Aid.  He also has a wonderful page at his website with information on helping the Katrina Recovery effort. John writes that he wishes he could write a huge check to a Katrina Relief Organization, then jump in the car and ride to Baton Rouge to help hands on but alas he has a backlog of labyrinths to draw, paint & deliver. John hopes to get to Baton Rouge at the end of October, though, to offer hands on help to survivors here.

He writes: I have placed a few labyrinth items up on EBAY with proceeds going 100% to different help organizations. (see link at www.paxworks.com ) I know the long term will be the true test for all of us.. and I am looking toward a continued effort when the news dies down.
