NEW ORLEANS - The Mississippi River, closed from New Orleans to the Gulf of Mexico after the oil spill from the vessel accident Wednesday, remains closed with few exceptions.
Very limited vessel movement is being allowed, only with Coast Guard Captain of the Port approval.
The safety zone remains in effect.
The Coast Guard Captain of the Port has contacted several vessels and allowed them to move through the safety zone, to a de-contanmation site.
The U.S. Coast Guard is Broadcasting a Notice to Mariners to all vessels throughout the affected area.
