oh this is a good one from the Los Angeles Times...

Twitter was first on the scene again when an estimated 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Los Angeles today. Tweets started rumbling nearly as soon as the ground stopped shaking. That's a lot of Twittering on the Richter scale. "So, now people tweet first and then run for safety?" one amused onlooker commented on Feedalizr. Continue here>>>

Los Angeles Area Struck by 5.4-Magnitude Earthquake

July 29 (Bloomberg) -- The Los Angeles area was struck by a 5.4-magnitude earthquake, shaking buildings as far away as San Diego. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The quake, originally recorded as a 5.8 magnitude, hit today at 11:42 a.m. local time, 28 miles (46 kilometers) east- southeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its Web site. VENEZUELA HIT BY 5.3 MAGNITUDE QUAKE, NO IMMEDIATE REPORTS OF DAMAGE

CARACAS, June 20 (Reuters) - A 5.3 magnitude quake hit Venezuela on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of damage in the OPEC nation, including to any of the state oil company's operations, officials said. The quake, which also hit Colombia, should not produce any significant damage because of its size and depth, Herbert Rendon, a Venezuelan seismological official said by telephone.
