In conjunction with Gulf Coast Rising, A Day of Solidarity, Beauty, Healing, and Yes Even Joy, for the Gulf of Mexico and Its People, the Louisiana Labyrinth Network will create a birdseed labyrinth and host an informal labyrinth walk from noon to 4:00 pm on the beach behind Bridgeside Marina, 1618 Highway 1, Grand Isle, LA.
You are invited to come walk the labyrinth and to bring a small, lightweight symbol, image or a written statement for the Gulf to be placed in the labyrinth during the walk. Bring your beach chair, umbrella, snacks and drinks if you plan to spend the day with us - and a small bag of birdseed to feed the birds. If you are coming from out of town go to http://www.geauxpass.com/for information about the LA-1 Bridge toll.
Louisiana artist Sidney Creaghan has graciously created a painting, Pelican Rising, exclusively for the Gulf Coast Rising Event, and it will be on view during the labyrinth walk.

Labyrinths are ancient symbols for wholeness found in cultures worldwide. They are being used today as personal practices for healing and growth, as tools for community building, as agents for global change, and as metaphors for life. Now in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the labyrinth is offered as a symbol of hope, healing, and renewal for the Gulf waters, its precious eco-system, and its people.
The Gulf of Mexico Labyrinth Walk is a Gulf Coast Rising event coordinated by the Louisiana Labyrinth Network and sponsored by Radical Joy for Hard Times, a non-profit organization devoted to finding and making beauty in wounded places.
